Over 70pc Indians Seeking GenAI To Boost Productivity ...

More than 70 per cent of Indians are seeking generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) tools to boost their productivity as well as communication skills, according to a new report by Google and Kantar. The report, based on a survey of over 8,000 people across 18 cities, analyzed Gen AI adoption, potential, and impact among people in India.

Adoption and Desire for Gen AI in India

The report highlighted the significant potential for Gen AI adoption in India, with a majority of people expressing their desire to excel in life through the use of such tools. While the excitement around AI is high, the report found that it is still early days for adoption, as 60 per cent of respondents are not familiar with AI, and only 31 per cent have tried any Generative AI tool.

What is Generative AI (GenAI)?

Despite the early stage of adoption, there is a strong innate desire among Indians to improve and excel, with the majority looking to boost productivity (72 per cent), enhance creativity (77 per cent), and communicate more effectively (73 per cent) in their daily lives.

Benefits of AI in Everyday Tasks

Approximately 76 per cent of respondents stated that they use AI to save time on everyday tasks like planning travel or managing budgets, while 84 per cent use it to be more creative with tasks such as helping kids with homework or trying out new recipes.

Google's AI assistant Gemini was highlighted in the report for its role in helping Indians boost their confidence and capabilities. A significant percentage of Gemini users reported a boost in confidence (92 per cent), increased productivity (93 per cent), and a spark in creativity (85 per cent).

Gemini's Impact in India

Gemini's top use cases in India include simplifying complex information, offering 'how-to' guides, generating creative ideas, assisting with writing, and even culinary exploration, catering to diverse needs across the country.
