Unlocking the Power of Gemini's Q&A for Gmail Users

Gemini's Q&A saves you time and energy searching through Gmail

Google has announced the rollout of Gemini's Q&A feature for Gmail on Android devices. This new feature allows users to ask Gemini to display unread emails for the day or week, as well as create customized queries. Gemini's Q&A is a reflection of the side panel tools introduced for Gmail's web version in June, which also incorporated various Workspace apps.

The latest update for Gmail, powered by Gemini AI, aims to enhance productivity and streamline email management. Users can expect to see Gemini's star icon next to the search bar, indicating the availability of the new feature. By tapping on the icon, a menu with pre-made questions will appear, offering options to view unread emails, unread emails from the current week, and order statuses. Alternatively, users can input specific queries in the text box below the pre-made options, instructing Gemini to summarize emails on a particular topic or locate conversations with specific contacts.

Google emphasizes that Gemini's Q&A can also be accessed through the "summarize this email" chip during email conversations. The feature is gradually being rolled out to Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, and Google One AI Premium add-on users. While the update commenced on August 29, it may take up to 15 days to reach all rapid/scheduled release domains, starting with Android users.

In the future, Google plans to expand Gemini's Q&A functionality on Android to include integration with Drive content. This move follows a significant update for Gmail introduced in June, focusing on enriching the web experience with Gemini's AI capabilities, including email summarization and reply suggestions. Gemini's ability to interpret direct queries about email content has been particularly highlighted.
