Google's Gemini now allows users to add files when creating their Gems
After introducing Gems at Google I/O earlier this year, Google has been gradually rolling out this feature since August. Gems are customized versions of Gemini that act as experts on specific topics or goals. Users can provide instructions to a Gem and engage in conversations with it. This feature is currently available for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers.
New Capability: File Upload for Gems
Google recently announced a new functionality that enables users to upload files when creating Gems. By uploading relevant files, Gems can offer more personalized and contextually relevant responses. Before responding to queries, Gems will refer to the uploaded files to provide accurate answers. This file upload feature is currently accessible to Gemini Advanced subscribers through Google One and Google Workspace, specifically in English.
Expansion to Google Workspace for Education
In addition to the file upload feature, Google has extended Gemini access to Google Workspace for Education teen students. This expanded support allows Google Workspace for Education users aged 13 and above to utilize the Gemini app with enhanced data protection. Education administrators have the ability to manage access settings for these users via the Google Workspace Admin console.
