Meta Quest 3 Headset Will Get AI-Powered Features Soon: Know More
The Quest 3 headset is set to receive a significant upgrade with new AI features. Meta has announced that it will be incorporating advanced AI vision capabilities into its latest VR headsets, similar to the technology found in the Meta Ray-Ban glasses. According to a blog post by Meta, this update will initially roll out in the US and Canada in experimental mode starting next month.
Intelligent Scanning and Beyond
The integration of Meta AI into the Quest VR will enable users to access Meta's 'intelligent scanning' of their physical surroundings. As part of the Meta Horizon OS, Meta AI will enhance the hands-free experience, allowing users to obtain real-time information from the Bing search engine and receive answers to a wide range of questions.
Moreover, with the upcoming update, users can interact with the AI to inquire about their immediate physical environment while using the headset. For instance, users could watch travel videos in a mixed reality setting while preparing for an upcoming trip and seek advice from the Meta AI on selecting suitable vacation attire.
Expansion and Future Enhancements
Meta mentioned that millions of users have already experienced Meta AI through various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, the web, and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The company is eager for more users to leverage the power, intelligence, and utility of Meta AI on the Quest 3 headset. While the initial features are promising, Meta plans to introduce additional functionalities in the future.
It is essential to note that the Meta AI vision capabilities will not be compatible with Quest 2 headsets. Additionally, the AI features on Quest headsets will only be accessible in experimental mode within the US and Canada. The Meta Quest 3, which was launched in October last year, is priced at $499.99 (Rs 37,300 approx) for the 128 GB variant and $649.99 (Rs 48,600 approx) for the 512 GB variant in the US.
