Google introduces Gemini 2.5 reasoning models | InfoWorld
Google has unveiled version 2.5 of its Gemini AI model, a significant upgrade that promises enhanced performance through a combination of an improved base model and enhanced post-training techniques.

Enhanced Reasoning Capabilities
The Gemini 2.5 models are equipped with advanced reasoning capabilities that allow them to analyze and reason through their thoughts before generating responses. This enhanced reasoning functionality leads to improved overall performance and enhanced accuracy in various tasks, according to Koray Kavukcuoglu, CTO of Google DeepMind.
In a blog post on March 25, Kavukcuoglu emphasized that the initial release of Gemini 2.5, known as Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental, sets a new benchmark in advanced reasoning capabilities. The experimental version showcases strong reasoning and coding abilities, excelling in common coding, mathematics, and science benchmarks.

Availability and Future Developments
Google has made Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental available in Google AI Studio and the Gemini app for advanced users of the Gemini platform. The release is set to be integrated with Vertex AI in the near future.

With a current context window of one million tokens, Gemini 2.5 is poised for further enhancements with a planned expansion to a two-million token context window in the upcoming updates. Google's roadmap includes integrating the advanced thinking capabilities of Gemini 2.5 into all its AI models, enabling them to tackle more complex problems and support context-aware agents effectively.
