The current generation of AI models has the power to turn ideas into reality with just a prompt. This morning, as I prepared to present to SMPS Ontario, I faced the challenge of showing translated captions natively on MacOS. While MacOS can display live captions, they are in the system language and not translated. PowerPoint can handle the translation, but solely within PowerPoint.
Although there are applications available for this purpose, they often require unnecessary subscriptions. Instead, I utilized Gemini 2.5 to dictate my requirements, leveraging a local speech recognition software model (NVIDIA Parakeet TDT v2) to transcribe my speech in real-time and a local LLM (Google Gemma 3) to translate it into Canadian French. Within minutes, Gemini 2.5 had helped me build the necessary documents and workplan effortlessly.
After setting up the app and some quick debugging, I had achieved real-time translation on my computer without any internet connection or additional costs. This demonstrates how quickly AI can bring ideas to life, as my concept was realized within 30 minutes.

One of my key messages is that in the age of AI, those with the best ideas and the ability to articulate them will come out on top. This experience perfectly exemplifies that notion. While there is room for further refinement, the speed at which the idea transformed into a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was remarkable.
