Professor Uses ChatGPT to Write Recommendation Letter. Student Gets Prestigious Scholarship to University of Cambridge

A professor at the University of Victoria's libraries, Matt Huculak, recently utilized ChatGPT to create a letter of recommendation that helped a student get a prestigious scholarship to the University of Cambridge.

Huculak mentioned that ChatGPT helped him write a unique letter, avoiding the need for him to perform a "anxiety-producing" chore. It's common for professors to recycle previous recommendation letters and modify them to fit a particular student, leading to dull letters. However, the ChatGPT generated letter proved to be a game changer.

Following this, the AI tool's incredible powers have sparked debates about whether it will replace humans across various professions such as translation, market research analysis, transcription, tutoring, email marketing, copywriting, and social media management. However, experts believe that the influence of AI on these occupations can be mitigated by skill development and keeping up with trends.

Infosys co-founder, NR Narayana Murthy, has expressed confidence that nothing can beat the human mind. The human mind is the 'most powerful imagination' out there, a statement that exemplifies the notion that ChatGPT is more of an assistant than a replacement for humans.
