Google CEO Sundar Pichai adds new coding feature called Canvas to Gemini AI ChatbotFollowing OpenAI's Canvas tool for ChatGPT, Google has recently introduced two new features to its AI-powered Gemini chatbot: Canvas and Audio Overview. These additions are designed to provide users with an interactive workspace for creating, refining, and sharing writing and coding projects seamlessly. Google aims to enhance user collaboration and creativity within the platform with these innovative features.Simplifying the Coding Process with CanvasCanvas offers users an interactive workspace within the Gemini app on both web and mobile platforms. It enables users to draft, refine, and share writing and coding projects effortlessly. Users can fine-tune content by adjusting tone, length, and formatting. By highlighting a paragraph, users can prompt Gemini to make text more concise, professional, or informal. Collaboration is streamlined as completed content can be exported directly to Google Docs with a single click.According to Google, "Within Canvas, you can generate and preview your HTML/React code and other web app prototypes to see a visual representation of your design. For example, if you want to create an email subscription form for your website, you can ask Gemini to generate the HTML for the form, preview how it will appear and function within your web app, request changes to input fields or add call-to-action buttons, instantly see the updated preview, and share your creations with others."Canvas simplifies the entire coding process, allowing users to focus on creating, editing, and sharing their code and design in one place, without the hassle of switching between multiple applications.Enhancing Learning with Audio OverviewBuilding upon the capabilities of NotebookLM's Audio Overview, this feature converts written materials into podcast-style discussions between AI hosts. Users can upload a document through the prompt bar to generate an audio summary that can be downloaded or shared via the Gemini app. This feature provides a convenient way to consume content on the go.Audio Overview currently supports various file formats and is limited to English. According to Google, "Audio Overview enhances learning in a fun and productive way. You can upload class notes, research papers, lengthy email threads, or reports generated by Deep Research and receive an Audio Overview to help summarize your files while you’re on the go."Audio Overview is now rolling out globally to Gemini and Gemini Advanced subscribers in English, with support for more languages coming soon. Users can generate AI-powered discussions by uploading documents or slides on various topics and selecting the suggestion chip that appears above the prompt bar. This feature is available on both the web and the Gemini mobile app, allowing for easy sharing and downloading for convenient listening on the go.
