AI Shopping Trends in the UK
According to a recent survey, more than a third of UK consumers, which marks a 39% increase from last year, are now using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid them in their shopping experiences. The annual Retail Report conducted by Adyen, a financial technology platform, revealed that 35% of consumers have incorporated AI into their shopping routines.
Benefits of AI in Shopping
Amongst those who have utilized AI for shopping, 56% stated that it had served as a source of inspiration for their purchases, be it outfits, meals, or other items. Additionally, 51% mentioned that AI helped them navigate through the overwhelming "online noise" in the retail landscape.

Demographics and AI Usage
While the use of AI in shopping is gaining popularity across all age groups, individuals aged between 44 and 59 showed the most significant increase over the past year. Interestingly, only 15% of respondents aged 60 and above reported using AI for shopping, in contrast to 54% of 16 to 27-year-olds and 51% of 28 to 43-year-olds.
Retailers' Perspective on AI
More than a third of UK retailers (35%) have expressed their intention to invest in AI to enhance their sales and marketing strategies. The study also highlighted that 66% of UK consumers are aware that retailers might be leveraging AI to recommend products to them.

Preference for Shopping Channels
While 30% of shoppers revealed that they use social media for shopping, physical stores remain the preferred retail destination for 30% of consumers. Furthermore, 44% of respondents expressed the desire to physically see and feel the product before making a purchase, and 41% preferred trying on items before buying.
The survey also indicated that 33% of consumers enjoy walking out of the store with the purchased product immediately.
