French generative artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI has announced new updates that give its chatbot, Le Chat, a significant edge over ChatGPT and other competitors.
Le Chat is now equipped with several new features that enhance its capabilities as a work assistant. It now has the ability to search the web and provide responses with citations, similar to ChatGPT and Perplexity. Additionally, a new "Canvas" tool allows users to edit content such as web pages, data visualizations, and presentations using text and voice commands.
The new features also include the capacity to process larger PDF documents, images, graphs, and equations for analysis and summarization. Le Chat now integrates Black Forest Labs Inc.'s Flux Pro model for improved image generating capabilities and supports automated workflows like invoice processing and expense reporting.
Pixtral Large and Mistral Large Updates
In addition to the Le Chat updates, Mistral AI introduced two powerful large language models: Pixtral Large and an updated version of Mistral Large. Pixtral Large, a multimodal model capable of processing text and images, boasts 124 billion parameters, surpassing many of its competitors on key benchmarks.
Mistral Large 24.11, the updated version of the company's flagship text-understanding model, offers improved long context understanding, making it ideal for tasks like document analysis.
Mistral AI's commitment to innovation and competitiveness in the generative AI space is evident through these new updates. With a team of former Google DeepMind and Meta Platforms Inc. employees, Mistral AI continues to challenge leaders like OpenAI and Google in the AI sector.
