ChatGPT finally allows free users to create Ghibli-style AI images ...
OpenAI has recently introduced the native image generation feature to its ChatGPT platform for free users. While this news has not been officially confirmed by OpenAI or its CEO Sam Altman, several users have reported successfully 'Ghiblifying' images through their ChatGPT accounts, where the feature is now available.
Initially, the native image generation feature was made accessible to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team users worldwide on 26th March. This led to a wave of creativity among social media users who began transforming their pictures into the iconic style of Japan's Studio Ghibli films.
However, free users were left out of this exciting feature initially, forcing them to explore alternatives such as xAI's Grok chatbot or Gemini. While these options worked to some extent, the results were not as detailed or refined as those produced by the OpenAI model.
Creating Ghibli-style AI images with ChatGPT:
- Visit the ChatGPT website or app
- Upload your image by clicking on the ‘+’ sign at the bottom left corner
- Enter the text ‘Ghiblify this’ or ‘turn this image in Studio Ghibli theme’
- Receive your transformed image in the Studio Ghibli style. Click on the download option to save it.
As the demand for image generation surged, OpenAI had to impose restrictions on both paid and free users to optimize their GPU usage. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, mentioned that the GPUs were under strain due to overwhelming requests.
According to the latest update from OpenAI, ChatGPT free users are now limited to three image generations per day. This restriction aims to balance the usage and ensure smoother operations for all users.
Understanding native image generation:
Native image generation is a unique capability of ChatGPT that allows the chatbot to create and modify images directly using its multimodal features. Unlike relying on external models like DALL-E 3, ChatGPT can now independently generate images in various styles.
With image generation integrated into GPT-4o, ChatGPT can refine images through conversational prompts, offering more control and consistency in the generated images. This advancement has enabled ChatGPT to work with multiple objects in an image, enhancing its overall performance.
By connecting its text knowledge base with image processing, ChatGPT can provide more intelligent and contextually appropriate responses, making interactions more engaging and efficient.
