Google Brings Imagen 3 Advanced AI-Image Generator To More Users
Google recently introduced Imagen 3, an advanced AI Text-to-image generator for users in the US. The tool was initially unveiled at the company's I/O Conference in May 2024 and is now available on the Vertex AI Platform. According to The Verge, Imagen 3 is designed to produce images with enhanced detail, lighting, and reduced visual disturbances compared to Google's previous models.
Quality and Capabilities of Imagen 3
Described as Google's highest quality text-to-image model, Imagen 3 can generate highly detailed and lifelike images with minimal distractions. Users have the ability to prompt the tool to create detailed visuals and can make edits by specifying areas for adjustments in the image.
Despite its capabilities, Imagen 3 has strict limitations in place to prevent the generation of harmful or illegal content, such as images of public figures or weapons. Additionally, the tool is unable to generate images of copyrighted characters unless users provide a detailed description for reference.
Competition and Availability
Google's Imagen 3 is positioned as a competitor to Grok, Elon Musk's AI picture creator on X, which has been used to generate a wide range of content, including controversial subjects. The tool is currently accessible through Vertex AI and ImageFX and will soon be integrated into various Google AI features within Workspace and Gemini on both web and mobile platforms.
Earlier this year, Google faced challenges with Gemini's image generation feature, resulting in the temporary pause of generating historical pictures. The company reassured users that improvements are underway to enhance the accuracy of image generation and mitigate any issues encountered.
In February, Google introduced the image generation feature through Gemini as part of its efforts to compete with other AI technologies from leading tech companies.
