The Future of AI Assistance: ChatGPT's Evolution with Cloud Storage Integration

ChatGPT can now read your Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox

The recent announcement from OpenAI marks a significant advancement in the expansion of capabilities for its AI assistant, ChatGPT. This update aims to go beyond traditional chat-based queries to cater to the needs of business users.

One of the key enhancements includes the introduction of a voice recording tool and seamless integration with popular cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox.

New Features

According to a report by The Verge, the newly introduced “record mode” feature enables users to transcribe various types of audio content, including meetings, brainstorming sessions, and personal reflections, using their voice. This tool, available to ChatGPT Team users on Enterprise or Edu plans, automatically generates structured notes, timestamps, and action items based on the conversation. This creates a searchable and organized summary of the recorded content.

In addition to the record mode, OpenAI has expanded its support for various cloud platforms, including Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Users can now seamlessly search and retrieve information from their connected files, allowing ChatGPT to summarize the relevant data with proper citations.

Data Privacy

One of the key concerns for users is data privacy. OpenAI ensures that ChatGPT respects user-level permissions to safeguard sensitive content. The AI tool will structure and present data clearly, adhering to the existing permissions set at the user level for documents.

While ChatGPT may access the data shared with it temporarily and with user permission, the access ends once the session is terminated or the connection is disconnected.

Pricing and Growth

The Team subscription for ChatGPT starts at $25 per user per month, with a minimum of two users required on an annual plan. Since the introduction of ChatGPT Enterprise in 2023, OpenAI has onboarded major corporate clients such as Canva, Block, PwC, and Estée Lauder Companies.
