Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Gets Upgraded With Meta AI and New Frame Styles
In a recent announcement, Meta introduced new frame styles for its Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. These smart glasses are the successor to the Ray-Ban Stories and have now been upgraded with multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The update was rolled out for users in the US and Canada on Tuesday.
Enhanced Meta AI Capabilities
Meta highlighted that the Meta AI integrated into the smart glasses now possesses multimodal capabilities, allowing it to identify objects captured through the camera. Users can control the glasses using voice commands by simply saying, “Hey Meta,” to access real-time information.
Expansion of AI Features
Meta has been testing the AI features since December 2023 and initially released them to a limited number of beta users. Now, all users in the US and Canada can enjoy the AI enhancements. While the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are also available in 13 additional countries, the availability of AI features in these regions remains undisclosed.
Functionalities of Meta AI
According to a report by The Verge, activating the Meta AI involves using the phrase “Hey Meta, look and…” before specifying the object for identification. The feature allows users to seek information on various subjects by directing queries to the AI.
Additionally, the smart glasses now support video calling through Meta apps, providing the caller with the wearer's perspective. Meta also unveiled new frame styles for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, including the Skyler frame and Headliner low bridge fit frame.
