Mark Zuckerberg and Apple are clashing again, this time over AI tools
Mark Zuckerberg and Apple find themselves at odds once more, this time in a dispute over AI tools. Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has quietly disabled Apple Intelligence features such as Genmoji and Writing Tools on its platforms including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger. This decision by Meta comes following Zuckerberg's public criticism of Apple, where he suggested that the tech giant has not introduced any groundbreaking innovations since the launch of the iPhone.
Strategic Move by Meta
Meta's move is seen as a strategic one, as the company aims to double its capital spending to $65 billion by 2025 to bolster its AI infrastructure. Additionally, Meta is pushing its users towards Meta AI, an in-app assistant. 
On the other hand, Apple's AI suite operates on-device utilizing its A17 Pro chip, promising rapid responses with enhanced privacy. However, the AI suite is now restricted to functioning solely within Apple's applications like Safari when accessed on Meta platforms.
Feud Over Control
The clash between Meta and Apple signifies the escalating tensions regarding the control of mobile platforms and user data. Zuckerberg has been a vocal critic of Apple's App Store policies, condemning the company's 30% commission as "monopoly rents" and accusing Apple of hindering innovation and competition.
