Will Google Gift The Pixel's Superpower To The iPhone 17 Pro?
The new iPhone 16 Pro Max is displayed during an Apple special event at Apple headquarters on September 09, 2024. Apple looks set to bring a stronger flavor of artificial intelligence to the iPhone and Siri later this year. The twist is that Apple will use Google’s Gemini AI, which is already running in Google’s Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro smartphones.
Google's Involvement
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai expressed optimism during court proceedings reported by Bloomberg, stating that he hopes to integrate Gemini AI as an additional AI option on Apple products by the middle of this year. This move will bring significant value to Google by introducing tens of millions of users to Gemini, potentially boosting Google's premium services. 
While the Pixel smartphones serve as a prominent presence for Android, they do not significantly impact Google or Alphabet's financial performance. Sharing the new Google Gemini AI models with the iPhone is expected to benefit Google more than Apple in this partnership.
Apple's Position
Apple heavily relies on iPhone revenue, contributing to more than fifty percent of the company's overall revenue. The iPhone is crucial to Apple's financial success, and the incorporation of Google's AI platform into its devices demonstrates Apple's lag in the AI race compared to Google. 
Apple's decision to enable iPhone users to access Google's AI platform before implementing its own AI features underscores the company's current standing in mobile AI technology. This collaboration allows Google to establish a foothold for Gemini on the iPhone.

Apple will have the opportunity to showcase its advancements at the upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference, while Google will also focus on enhancing its AI technology at the I/O Conference. With the inclusion of the iPhone, Google aims to strengthen its position in the AI race.
