ChatGPT Shows Better Empathy To Patients Than Doctors: Study
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been transforming the healthcare industry by providing efficient and effective solutions to various medical issues. A new study published in JAMA Internal Medicine investigated the performance of ChatGPT, an AI-powered assistant, in providing empathetic and high-quality advice to patients. The results showed that ChatGPT outperformed physicians in terms of providing empathetic responses to patient questions.
The study engaged a panel of licensed healthcare professionals to compare written responses from physicians and those generated by ChatGPT to real-world health questions. The results showed that ChatGPT's responses were preferred 79 percent of the time over the responses of the physicians. The participants of the study rated ChatGPT's responses as higher quality and more empathetic than those of the physicians.
The findings of this study have significant implications for healthcare practices and medical professionals worldwide. The study concludes that ChatGPT's AI-powered assistance can bridge the gap between patients and physicians by providing empathetic and high-quality advice to patients.
