SoftBank Group Corp's mobile unit, SoftBank Corp., has announced that it will be joining the race to create a version of ChatGPT, thereby causing a surge in AI-related Japanese companies on Thursday.
During an earnings briefing on Wednesday, the CEO of SoftBank Corp., Junichi Miyakawa, stated that the wireless unit set up a new entity in March consisting of around 1,000 people tasked with developing a Japanese-language version of OpenAI Inc.'s AI chat technology. However, he didn't provide details on the project's current progress or goals.
