Russia's Sberbank Releases GigaChat as ChatGPT Competitor
Sberbank, Russia's primary bank, has announced the invite-only testing mode of its artificial intelligence chatbot technology GigaChat, designed to rival the current industry leader ChatGPT developed by OpenAI and backed by Microsoft. This move is part of a broader push within the technology industry to democratize access to AI and transform the way people work and conduct business.
GigaChat, according to Sberbank, sets itself apart by possessing greater proficiency in Russian compared to other international neural networks. This language advantage facilitates more intelligent communication, giving the technology an edge over competitors in the market.
The bank's investment in this technology also aligns with its strategy to decrease dependence on imports as Western nations continue to impose sanctions and reduce exports to Russia due to the country's actions in Ukraine.
