Meta has recently unveiled a new video editing feature utilizing generative AI technology. This innovative tool, based on the 'Movie Gen' video generation AI, automatically modifies various aspects of a video's subject, including their attire and surroundings. The company aims to make video editing more accessible to a wider audience by providing over 50 preset editing prompts, set to launch in the latter half of 2025.

The user-friendly AI video editing feature promises high-quality results without the need for specialized video editing skills. While the service will initially be free for a limited time, users will be restricted to editing 10-second videos. This offering will be available in the United States and more than 12 other countries worldwide.
Enhanced Editing Capabilities
With Meta's AI video editing tool, users can effortlessly select preset prompts, allowing the Meta AI to transform their videos according to a chosen scenario. Videos can be rendered in styles reminiscent of graphic novels or vintage comic book illustrations. Moreover, users have the option to adjust lighting effects in their videos, such as adding sparkle to rainy scenes, introducing pearlescent blur, or creating a soft, dream-like ambiance.

Once edited, videos can be seamlessly shared on popular social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Additionally, videos edited using Meta AI can be directly posted to the user's Discover feed.
Empowering Creativity
Meta's Chief Executive Officer commented, "Leveraging our existing AI research, we are introducing the market's first generative AI video editing capabilities, enabling individuals to express themselves, connect with others, and bring their creative visions to life through video."
The Verge shared their experience with the AI video editing feature, noting, "I tested the feature by transforming a video of my parents' dogs digging in the backyard into a desert scene. While the result wasn't as precise as the examples showcased on Meta's website, the ground appeared orange, cacti sprouted in the background, and the dogs unexpectedly sparkled."
