Craig Scroggie on LinkedIn: NVIDIA Accelerating the Future of AI ...
The future of AI and robotics is incredibly exciting, with recent advancements set to revolutionize humanoid robot development. By leveraging sophisticated AI models and powerful computing platforms, innovation and deployment cycles are rapidly accelerating.
The ability to generate synthetic motion and perception data from minimal human input is a game-changer, making advanced robotics more efficient and accessible. Cloud-native services are simplifying and scaling development workflows, enabling us to push the boundaries of AI-driven robotics.
This content was released by NVIDIA at #SIGGRAPH2024 last week, and I am really excited to see the Figure 2 release next week.

Leadership and Talent Development Events
This week, I had the honor of being invited to speak at two exceptional leadership and talent development events. The intellectual curiosity and passion for learning from the participants in these forums is amazing. The personal stories being shared by leaders were courageous and inspiring.
One question always arises: "What's your favorite book, and why?" For me there are many - depending on the discipline, but one I recently re-read and really love is 'Rebel Ideas' by Matthew Syed.
'Rebel Ideas' highlights the critical importance of cognitive diversity in leadership – the ability to think differently about the world around us. It explains how to harness our unique perspectives, pool our collective intelligence, and tackle the greatest challenges of our age – from climate change to terrorism.
If you haven't read it, I highly recommend.

The Battle of Open Source AI
In the world of artificial intelligence, a battle is underway. On one side are companies that believe in keeping the datasets and algorithms behind their advanced software private and confidential. On the other are companies that believe in allowing the public to see what’s under the hood of their sophisticated AI models.
Think of this as the battle between open and closed source AI.
In recent weeks, Meta Facebook took up the fight for open-source AI in a big way by releasing a new collection of large AI models. These include a model named Llama 3.1 405B, which Meta’s founder and chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, says is “the first frontier-level open-source AI model.”

Cloud Infrastructure Market Growth
The cloud infrastructure market hit nearly $80 billion in revenue this quarter, a 22% increase from the previous year. This growth, driven largely by AI, marks the third consecutive quarter of 20% or higher year-over-year growth. Synergy Research Group anticipates the market will double again in four years.
Microsoft Intelligent Cloud missed analysts' expectations but still grew by 30%. Amazon Web Services (AWS)'s revenue rose 19% to $26.3 billion, while Google Cloud crossed $10 billion for the first time, up 29% YoY. The Big 3 - Amazon, Microsoft, and Google - dominate with a combined 73% market share, while Oracle moved up to 3% share.
