WhatsApp Introduces AI-Based Group Chat Features in Latest Update
WhatsApp is taking its AI capabilities to the next level with a new Android beta update that integrates Meta AI into group chats. This feature aims to enhance the user experience by making group interactions smarter and more intuitive. The update, currently available in beta testing, includes AI-generated group chat icons and an AI widget for quick access.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.25.6.10 now allows users to create AI-generated images for group chat icons. This feature is especially useful when users struggle to find a suitable group profile picture. Communities with multiple groups can also benefit from this, as it enables them to create visually appealing icons with ease.
Users can provide specific instructions to Meta AI, which will then generate a group icon based on their input. However, this functionality is currently limited to group chats and cannot be used for personal WhatsApp profile pictures.
Mark Zuckerberg announced a new feature that will bring AI-powered interactions to WhatsApp group chats. The integration of Meta AI aims to make group conversations more dynamic and engaging. Users can look forward to smarter suggestions and personalized experiences within their group chats.
Apart from visual enhancements, Meta AI in group chats will assist users in various ways, such as brainstorming ideas for presentations or planning trips with friends. Importantly, the chatbot will only interact with messages directly fed to it and will not access other conversations, ensuring user privacy.
WhatsApp is also testing another AI-driven feature in its latest Android beta update (version 2.25.6.14) – the Meta AI widget. This widget provides users with instant access to Meta AI from their home screen, making interactions more seamless.
The widget is designed to be user-friendly, allowing users to resize it and customize its placement on their home screen.
Both the AI-based group chat icons and the Meta AI widget are currently in beta testing. However, given WhatsApp’s rapid feature rollouts, they are expected to be available for all users soon.
