OpenAI Launches Personalized ChatGPT for Pro Users
Your ChatGPT bot can now track all your past conversations and map your life for a better understanding of its customers. OpenAI has rolled out a major memory update to its AI model, ChatGPT, enabling it to store details from all previous conversations, not just the ongoing one. This update allows the AI to provide more responsive and useful answers by recalling users' habits, previous queries, and crucial context across sessions.
By memorizing users' preferences and interests, the AI aims to enhance its assistance in tasks like writing, learning, and offering better advice. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the update, stating, “We have greatly improved memory in ChatGPT – it can now reference all your past conversations!” This new memory feature is currently being released to Pro users and will soon be accessible to Plus users as well.
Altman mentioned that the feature is currently not available in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. In a light-hearted tone, he tweeted, “Call me, Liechtenstein, let’s work this out!” hinting at potential regulatory or legal obstacles in those regions.
Users have complete control over memory settings. They can opt-out of memory entirely or engage in temporary chats that do not retain any information or impact memory settings. OpenAI sees this as a step towards developing AI assistants that can adapt with users over time, becoming more personalized and useful in their day-to-day lives.
