ChatGPT app for Windows updated with support for webcam and more
OpenAI recently introduced a new update for the ChatGPT Windows app in the Microsoft Store, enhancing the user experience. The latest update now allows users to utilize their PC or laptop's webcam to capture photos directly within ChatGPT conversations.
Additionally, the update includes several minor improvements based on user feedback. Users can now adjust text scaling using simple keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + or Ctrl -. Moreover, the ChatGPT app has introduced a new setting that enables users to customize the shortcut for opening the companion window. A convenient button has also been added to the Settings section to facilitate checking for updates.
Enhanced Features
Earlier this month, OpenAI added Advanced Voice Mode support to the ChatGPT app for Windows, enabling more natural and real-time conversations, along with the ability to search chat history. Advanced Voice Mode has seen recent enhancements, such as the inclusion of five new voices (Arbor, Maple, Sol, Spruce, and Vale), the option for users to set custom instructions, the ability for ChatGPT to remember conversations for future reference, and overall improvements in conversational speed, smoothness, and accent support for various languages.
While these updates enhance the user experience, it's worth noting that the ChatGPT app for Windows operates as an Electron-based web application, which may have its own limitations. OpenAI may consider developing a high-performance native ChatGPT app for Windows in the future, similar to the one available for Mac desktops.
