Google's Gemini AI gains recall feature for smarter conversations
Google's Gemini AI assistant has received a significant upgrade for Google One AI Premium subscribers. The latest enhancement introduces a conversation recall feature, enabling Gemini to retain previous conversations and offer more contextually relevant responses without the need for users to repeat information.
This new functionality allows users to seamlessly pick up where they left off on ongoing projects, revisit past discussions, and even request Gemini to provide a summary of earlier conversations. By leveraging Google's existing memory feature, which already captures user preferences, Gemini can now actively refer back to prior interactions, enhancing its intelligence and efficiency.
Improved User Experience
With the introduction of this recall feature, users no longer need to manually search through old chats or reiterate previous dialogues. Whether collaborating on a project, organizing an event, or engaging in a prolonged conversation, Gemini will retain key details and facilitate continuity in conversations.
Furthermore, users have complete control over their chat history. Google has assured that users can review, delete, or manage their stored conversations by accessing the "Gemini Apps Activity" section within their profile on the Gemini app.
Rollout and Expansion
The recall feature is currently being rolled out for Google One AI Premium subscribers and is accessible in English on both Gemini's web and mobile applications. Google has also disclosed plans to extend support to additional languages and users of Google Workspace Business and Enterprise in the upcoming weeks.
This update positions Gemini in closer competition with OpenAI's ChatGPT, which already incorporates memory recall capabilities to enrich user interactions.
