Microsoft (MS) is reportedly working on applying its AI model, not OpenAI, to 365 Copilot, its flagship AI (Artificial Intelligence) product, to reduce its dependence on OpenAI. OpenAI products have good performance, but there is a problem that usage fees increase that much, so we will look for other models that can be an alternative.
Exploring New Models
According to foreign media on the 23rd, Microsoft is planning to introduce an additional open-source-based model developed on its AI-based productivity tool, 365 Copilot, not OpenAI's GPT-4 model. Microsoft is reportedly weighing whether to introduce several open-source AIs, including its small AI model 'Pie-4'.
Microsoft's recently unveiled Pi-4 is a 14-billion-parameter inference-enhancing model that specializes in solving complex inference tasks such as mathematics.
Diversification Strategies
Microsoft is implementing similar diversification strategies in GitHub and Copilot chatbots for consumers. Since last year, GitHub has added models of Google and Antropic, and 'Copilot' for consumers has applied both its own development model and open AI model.
Corporate customers develop and operate services using models such as OpenAI's GPT-4 through Microsoft's cloud service "Azer," and the OpenAI model has excellent performance but is burdened by high usage fees.
Reducing Reliance on OpenAI
Reuters quoted a source as saying, "We are trying to reduce the reliance on OpenAI's technology due to concerns from corporate customers that AI model usage fees will increase."
