Reddit Answers gets Google Gemini AI boost
Google and Reddit have announced an expansion of their partnership, introducing Gemini integration. The Reddit platform's Reddit Answers AI-powered conversational speech tool is set to receive a boost from the Google Vertex AI platform. This collaboration aims to enhance search results by leveraging the community-driven content on the site.
In a joint press release, the companies stated, "With Gemini integrated into Reddit Answers, users can now ask questions and receive curated summaries of relevant Reddit conversations, complete with links to communities and posts. This feature enables users to read excerpts from authentic redditors, participate in detailed discussions, and pose follow-up queries."
Reddit Answers harnesses Vertex AI Search to expedite and enhance the discovery of Answers. With Gemini, Reddit Answers can anchor its responses in Reddit's existing posts and conversations, ensuring that the information shared is authentic and reflects real-world insights from Reddit communities.
Enhancing User Experience
Matt Snelham, SVP of Infrastructure at Reddit, emphasized, "By integrating Google Cloud's Vertex AI Search and Reddit-built technology into Reddit Answers, we are introducing the same level of innovation that powers Google to our users. This integration has led to improved search relevance, resulting in an increase in users who directly navigate to the Reddit homepage through Reddit Answers, thereby boosting platform engagement."
