Recently, Samsung boss Lee Jae-yong traveled to the US on a business trip to meet with the company's important partners and discuss future strategies. After meeting the Verizon CEO, Lee proceeded to meet with the CEOs of tech giants Amazon, Meta, and Qualcomm to discuss increased cooperation.
Samsung's Meetings with Tech Giants
Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong met with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in Silicon Valley. These meetings were crucial in assessing Samsung's global status and competitiveness in the current market.
During these meetings, Lee focused on seeking cooperation with existing customers in various segments such as AI, foundry, home appliances, network, memory, and TV. Samsung is actively developing new products and technologies to benefit both Samsung and its partners.
Collaboration with Amazon
During the meeting with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy at Amazon's headquarters in Seattle, Lee discussed market trends in cloud computing and Generative AI. Amazon, a key business partner for Samsung in the memory chip sector, also collaborates with Samsung in content and TV segments.
One notable collaboration between Amazon and Samsung is the development of HDR10+ technology, which is an open-source competitor to Dolby Vision. Products like Amazon Fire TV and Samsung's laptops, monitors, smartphones, tablets, and TVs feature HDR10+ support.
Partnership with Meta
Lee's meeting with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in Palo Alto, California, revolved around potential cooperation in the information and communication technology (ICT) and software sectors. Both companies plan to work together in the fields of AI, AR, and VR.
It's worth mentioning that Samsung and Meta have a longstanding partnership that dates back over a decade. Their collaboration includes projects like Samsung's VR headsets utilizing Facebook's Quest platform.
Engagement with Qualcomm
Lee's meeting with Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon in the US focused on enhancing cooperation in the semiconductor chip and next-generation communication chip segments. Samsung's mobile devices are equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips, and the company recently introduced the Galaxy Book 4 Edge powered by Snapdragon X Elite.
Qualcomm is planning to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, expected to feature in the Galaxy S25, during its annual Snapdragon Summit event scheduled in Hawaii. Samsung continues to innovate in AI technologies and digital voice assistants to stay competitive in the market.
