Mercedes-Benz, Google Expand Partnership 04/10/2024
Mercedes-Benz is expanding its relationship with Google, aiming to enhance key customer experiences through artificial intelligence on Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform. This collaboration began in February 2023, with Mercedes-Benz choosing Google Maps Platform as the basis for its navigation system, benefiting over three million customers through Google's Place Details.
The partnership has now extended to include YouTube in Mercedes' infotainment offering, and the automaker is set to implement Google Cloud AI at its call center. Furthermore, Mercedes plans to utilize AI and gen AI tools like Vertex AI and Google Gemini models to personalize global marketing campaigns.
In response to the growing trend of online car research and shopping, Google Cloud's AI technologies will assist Mercedes-Benz in revamping its e-commerce strategy, ensuring a seamless transition from physical showrooms to online platforms. A key aspect of this strategy is the deployment of Google's Gemini models for a smart sales assistant on Mercedes' websites, designed to engage with customers naturally and facilitate tasks such as scheduling test drives and initiating purchases.
Mercedes-Benz has already introduced the Mercedes-Benz Virtual Assistant in European markets like the UK and Germany, with plans for a wider rollout across Europe and other regions in 2024. The company has also integrated Google Cloud's Vertex AI Search to enhance search and recommendation capabilities on its websites.
Over the past six months, Mercedes has integrated Google Cloud's conversational AI technology, Dialogflow, in its U.S. call centers, streamlining customer interactions in over 30 languages. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is leveraging Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform to optimize its customer data management and enhance website personalization in the United States.
Moreover, Mercedes is incorporating Google Cloud technologies into the development of its next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which encompass semi-autonomous driving features.
