Musk: I will withdraw the offer for Open AI if the company remains non-profit
American billionaire Elon Musk recently announced that he is willing to withdraw his $97.4 billion bid for the nonprofit organization that controls OpenAI, under one condition. This condition is that the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, abandons his plan to transform OpenAI, the company responsible for ChatGPT, into a profit-driven entity.
Musk’s lawyers stated in a filing in a California court that if the Open AI board commits to maintaining the company’s charitable mission and refrains from putting its assets up for sale by prohibiting conversion, Musk will retract his offer.
Altman's Rejection
Altman, however, rejected Musk's offer earlier in the week, emphasizing that OpenAI is not up for sale and is committed to its nonprofit status.
