Meta introduces generative AI video editing on Meta AI and Edits apps
Inspired by Meta’s Movie Gen models, the latest tool marks the first significant step towards broader AI video generation and editing capabilities across Meta’s platforms. Users will soon have the ability to edit videos using their own text prompts in conjunction with Meta AI. This innovative AI video editing tool is crafted for simplicity, empowering users to create high-quality edits without the need for technical expertise.
To get started, users can easily upload a video to either the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, or the Edits app. From there, users are presented with a selection of over 50 editing prompts that can be used to transform 10 seconds of their video for free, but only for a limited time.
Transforming Videos with Meta AI
Once a prompt is selected, Meta AI seamlessly applies the transformation to the video. Users have the freedom to convert their videos into various styles such as a graphic novel or a vintage comic book illustration. Additional options include adjusting lighting to create a dreamy mood or transforming the video into a video game style complete with battle clothing and fluorescent effects.
Edited videos can be easily shared directly to Facebook and Instagram through the Edits app and the Meta AI app. Furthermore, on the Meta AI app and Meta.AI website, users can also share their edited videos directly to the Discover feed.
Creative Experimentation and Collaboration
This feature aims to inspire creative experimentation within the community. Meta collaborated with creators to develop prompts that appeal to a wide range of audiences, with the goal of seamlessly integrating the Edits app into the content creation process.
This launch signifies the latest advancement in Meta’s AI media generation journey. In 2022, Meta introduced the Make-A-Scene models, enabling the creation of images, audio, videos, and 3D animations. Through diffusion models, Meta created the Llama Image foundation models, which excel in high-quality media generation and instruction-based editing. Last year, Meta combined multiple modalities to introduce Movie Gen, a tool that supports video and sound creation as well as text-based video editing.
Building on this research, Meta has now delivered its first generative AI video editing feature, empowering users to unleash their creativity through video content and bring their ideas to life.
