Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses to get display to rival Samsung AR ...
Last year, Samsung announced it is working on XR experiences with Google and Qualcomm. Recently, Samsung unveiled its first XR headset internally named ‘Project Moohan.' Now, Meta is gearing up to enhance its Ray-Ban Smart Glasses to include a display.
Upgraded Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
The current-generation Ray-Ban Smart Glasses from Meta rely solely on voice commands and gestures as they lack a display. However, according to a report from Financial Times, Meta is planning to introduce a display in the next-generation Ray-Ban Smart Glasses. These enhanced smart glasses are expected to launch in the second half of 2025 and will feature a display for notifications and interactions with Meta AI.
Meta's 'Project Orion' Smart Glasses
Several months ago, Meta showcased prototype smart glasses named ‘Project Orion’ that incorporated a projector display to showcase content in the user's field of view. Although the initial technology was deemed too costly for immediate launch, the latest report hints at Meta adopting a more accessible version of the display technology for its upcoming smart glasses.

Future of XR Devices
With Google and Samsung already introducing Android XR experiences, and Samsung preparing to unveil its first XR headset followed by AR glasses, the competition in the XR glasses and headset market is heating up. It will be intriguing to witness how Apple, Meta, and Samsung innovate their devices in the future and which brand emerges as the frontrunner of the market.
