India becomes largest market for Meta AI usage: Mark Zuckerberg
New Delhi: Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that India has become the largest market for artificial intelligence (AI) usage for the company. During the Q2 earnings call with analysts, Zuckerberg highlighted the significant growth in AI usage in India, particularly on WhatsApp.
According to Zuckerberg, the increased retention and engagement on WhatsApp in India have aligned with the country's rise as the leading market for Meta AI usage. The AI assistant, Meta AI, has recently been expanded to include support for several new languages, with Hindi being one of the key additions.
Expanded Language Support
Meta AI is now available in seven additional languages, including Hindi, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Users can now interact with Meta AI across various Meta platforms such as WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Facebook in these languages. The company is also planning to introduce support for more languages in the near future.

Revenue Growth and New Features
Meta reported a revenue of $39.1 billion for Q2, reflecting a 22% year-on-year increase. Zuckerberg highlighted the global expansion of Meta AI, which is now accessible in over 20 countries and eight languages. In the US, the company is introducing new features like Imagine Edit, allowing users to edit images generated with Meta AI.
Besides enhancing Generative AI capabilities, Meta is also focused on growing the Threads community and improving content recommendation systems. Zuckerberg expressed confidence that Meta AI is set to become the most widely used AI assistant by the end of the year.
Empowering Users to Create AIs
Zuckerberg emphasized Meta's vision of enabling not just one central AI but empowering individuals to develop their own AI solutions. The company recently launched AI Studio, a platform that enables users to create their own AIs for interaction within Meta's ecosystem of apps.
