New WhatsApp feature to let users generate AI pictures of themselves with Meta AI
WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to create images of themselves using Meta AI technology. This feature requires users to take a selfie and provide a prompt describing the desired vibe and background for the image. The under-development feature was discovered by WABetaInfo in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.14.13. Although the AI-generated selfie feature is not currently live, it is expected to be included in a future update.
How it Works
According to the information shared by WABetaInfo, users will need to capture a set of photos that Meta AI will analyze to generate AI images. Users will have the option to delete these setup photos at any time through the Meta AI settings. To generate an AI image, users can type “Imagine me” in the Meta AI chat or use “@Meta AI imagine me” in other chats. It is worth noting that Meta AI does not read other messages, ensuring user privacy.
Opt-in Feature
The AI selfie generation feature is optional and requires users to opt in. Those interested in using this feature will need to access their settings and capture setup pictures initially.
Expected Features
The upcoming feature is anticipated to enable users to create unique selfie images where they can place themselves in various backgrounds, such as a forest or outer space. The leaked screenshots revealed by Meta showcase different settings, including a Neon-themed futuristic look, a forest ranger attire set in a forest, and an artistic portrait with the user surrounded by flowers.
Expansion of Meta AI on WhatsApp
This AI selfie generation testing coincides with the integration of Meta AI chat capabilities into WhatsApp. The feature is now accessible in India on Android, iOS, WhatsApp Web, and all Linked Devices.
