Meta Platforms has announced that its artificial intelligence chatbot, Meta AI, will now be accessible in 21 new markets as part of its efforts to compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT. This expansion includes countries in Latin America and Asia, with the UK and Brazil being among the initial markets where the chatbot will be launched. The company revealed that Meta AI, which currently boasts nearly 500 million monthly active users, will also start supporting languages such as Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese.
Following a phased rollout, Meta plans to make the chatbot available in a total of 43 countries and in multiple languages by the end of 2024, aiming to establish itself as the most widely used AI assistant globally. Despite this expansion, the new character voices for the AI chatbot, previously mentioned by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the company's Connect conference, will be introduced separately at a later date.

This move further demonstrates Meta's commitment to enhancing the accessibility and functionality of its AI chatbot in diverse markets.
