Google Meet has introduced a new Gemini AI-powered feature known as 'take notes for me', designed to facilitate note-taking during video calls. The tech giant initially announced this update in September and is now gradually making it available to select Google Workspace users starting today.
'Take notes for me' is an AI-powered functionality that automatically records meeting notes and offers a convenient way to share them with other participants. These notes are automatically saved to the meeting owner's Google Drive and shared with all individuals on the calendar invite within the organization. Additionally, latecomers have the option to utilize the 'summary so far' feature to catch up on the meeting's progress without disrupting the ongoing conversation. 
According to Google, "It can be challenging to stay engaged in meeting discussions while also keeping track of the meeting details and follow-ups. This is where 'take notes for me' can be beneficial." By using this feature, users can enhance their presence and engagement during meetings while ensuring that crucial information is captured for future reference and follow-up. If meeting recordings and transcripts are enabled, they will be linked within the notes document.
How to use the 'Take notes for me' feature:
- Create or join a meeting
- Navigate to the top right corner of the screen and click on 'Take notes with Gemini'
- Everyone in the meeting will be notified that Gemini is taking notes
- Review your notes after the meeting
