In a statement acquired by the Associated Press, Altman expressed his support for Trump's efforts to advance America's position in the era of AI.

Altman joins a league of tech magnates who are seeking favor with Trump ahead of his term commencement. Meta, the parent company of Facebook led by Mark Zuckerberg, also contributed $1 million to the inauguration fund. Additionally, Amazon unveiled a similar donation, despite its founder Jeff Bezos' historical conflicts with Trump.

Trump is appointing Tesla's Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to oversee an informal entity named the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This department is tasked with identifying strategies to streamline federal spending. Notably, Musk has been embroiled in a dispute with OpenAI over the organization's shift towards a for-profit model with products like ChatGPT.
