Komando began her career selling Unisys mainframes to corporate clients. In 1992, she recognized the need to assist consumers in navigating the digital landscape, prompting her to transition to writing and broadcasting on digital issues. Her radio career kicked off with a late-night call-in show on Phoenix’s 550 KFYI-AM, “The Valley’s Talk Station.”

Kim Komando, along with her husband, Barry Young, established their first studio in 1994. They now run WestStar MultiMedia Entertainment, Inc. from a 24,000-square-foot multimedia broadcast production and soundstage facility in central Phoenix.
