WhatsApp Adds Document Scanner for Android Beta: Here's How to Use the New Feature
WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature for Android beta users that allows them to scan documents directly within the app. This feature, previously only available for iOS users, eliminates the need for third-party scanning apps, streamlining the document-sharing process.
The document scanning feature was first introduced in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.18.29 but was initially hidden during testing. With the latest beta update available on the Google Play Store, more users now have access to this convenient tool.
How to Use the Document Scanner:
After updating to the latest beta version of WhatsApp, a new option called "Scan Document" will appear in the attachment menu alongside the existing "Browse Documents" and "Choose from Gallery" options. Selecting this new feature will activate the phone's camera and open the scanning interface.
The scanner offers both manual and auto capture modes. In manual mode, users can manually capture the document by clicking the capture button, while auto mode uses edge detection to automatically snap the picture once the document is correctly framed.
Once the document is scanned, WhatsApp instantly converts it into a PDF file, allowing users to easily share it with their contacts directly through the app. This entire process utilizes Android's document scanning APIs, ensuring privacy and speed.
