Honeycomb Taps ChatGPT to Simplify Observability
Honeycomb has announced that it has integrated OpenAI’s generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform, ChatGPT, with its observability platform to introduce a Query Assistant tool. The tool will enable users to launch queries using natural language interfaces instead of having to learn a query language. The Query Assistant works alongside BubbleUP, an existing tool that uses machine learning algorithms to debug code, to make the Honeycomb observability platform more accessible to DevOps teams. Implementing generative AI would enable teams to build a relevant, modifiable query that they can constantly iterate as they investigate IT issues without the need for a deep understanding of code behavior and its underlying infrastructure.
According to Honeycomb CTO, Charity Majors, generative AI platforms like ChatGPT offer significant advantages over AI for IT operations (AIOps) platforms which, in contrast, are significantly less useful. As AI continues to improve, algorithms should be able to automatically surface more issues, and the simpler it becomes to use DevOps best practices, the more widely they will be adopted. Although it is still early days in measuring the impact of AI on DevOps workflows, many DevOps professionals are increasingly interested in working with AI-infused tools and platforms that make their jobs easier.
