Google to remove Gemini from iOS Google app, aiming to...
Google is taking steps to migrate iPhone users to the standalone Gemini app by removing support for Gemini within the iOS Google app.
According to 9to5Google, users of iPhones and iPads have been notified by Google about this change. The notification states, "Gemini will no longer be available in the Google app. We're making some changes to enhance the Gemini experience on iOS. Gemini now has its own dedicated app, which provides the optimal user experience. To continue using Gemini, users are advised to download the new Gemini app from the App Store."
Additionally, TechCrunch mentioned that this move will allow Google to compete more directly with AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplecity. However, there is a concern that this transition may limit Gemini's accessibility.
Google has also revealed updates to Google Lens for the iOS versions of the Google app and Google Chrome.
