Google Rolling Out Android Gemini Extension For Spotify
Users of the Spotify music streaming platform will now have the ability to utilize Google’s Gemini AI to search and play a variety of content including songs, albums, artists, playlists, and more.
Google Gemini Extensions are gradually becoming available for various applications such as WhatsApp, Phone, Messages, and Utilities, allowing for enhanced functionality and integration.
By linking your Spotify account to your Google Account, you can leverage Gemini Apps to easily play or search for music directly on Spotify.
According to Google, the Spotify extension is currently only compatible with Gemini in Google Messages when the language is set to English. The extension does not work with the Gemini web app or the Gemini app on iPhone at this time.
It is important to note that Extensions are only accessible when Gemini Apps Activity is turned on. Google explains that the functionality of Extensions remains consistent regardless of whether the prompts are spoken or typed. Users are advised to ensure that 'Hey Google' and Voice Match are correctly set up on their Android devices.
In order to connect to Spotify, users must link their Spotify account to their Google Account through Gemini Apps. If the connection has not been established previously, users will be prompted to do so when attempting to play, search, or browse music on Spotify through the Gemini app.
If multiple music services are being used and no specific service is specified in the request, the Gemini app will default to using the last service that was accessed. Additionally, users have the option to connect a YouTube Music account and instruct Gemini Apps to find and play music, artists, radio stations, or curated playlists based on mood or activity.
