Google's Gemini AI Assistant Revolutionizes Spotify Control

Google's Gemini AI Assistant Will Control Your Spotify! Step-By-Step Guide

Google is expanding the access of its AI assistant Gemini to several other third-party apps. After WhatsApp, Google is now enabling a new extension to let you access Spotify with Gemini AI assistant using voice or text commands. This will make the music search and playback simple as you will be able to give Gemini commands to change or select your favourite track.

As per a report by 9to5Google, Gemini-Spotify integration will let you perform several essential tasks, such as:

  • Search for music
  • Play your favourite tracks
  • Control playback

Google Workspace Marketplace apps

However, the extension has its limitations, too! While there are several useful benefits, you will not be able to create playlists, start radio stations, or perform other advanced Spotify functions directly through Gemini. Still, the integration of Spotify and Gemini will ensure that you easily access the music app without any hassle.

How to Link Your Spotify with Google Account for Gemini Integration

Before you begin to use this feature, make sure that you have linked your Spotify with your Google account. Here is how to do so:

  1. Open the Google Assistant settings on your device
  2. Go to Services and select Music
  3. Choose Spotify and link your account

Once connected, Gemini defaults to the last-used music service unless specified otherwise. If multiple music apps are linked, users must indicate the preferred service for each command.

It must be noted that the Spotify extension is currently rolling out to Android devices with Gemini language settings set to English. That means the iOS users and the Gemini web app users will have to wait more. Also, you will need to have a Spotify Premium Subscription to access specific songs or albums using the Gemini command.

Just like browser extensions, Google is aiming to expand its Gemini support to several third-party apps. After WhatsApp and now Spotify, Google is expected to expand such capabilities to apps such as Messages, Phone, and more soon.
