Google is going to stop charging you extra for Gemini features
Google Workspace subscribers no longer need to pay an additional $20 to access all the AI features within Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, and other tools. In a recent blog post, Google announced that Business and Enterprise subscribers will now have access to Google AI features without the need for the add-on purchase. These features include AI assistance across all Google Workspace tools and provide access to Gemini Advanced and NoteBookLM Plus.
What is Google Gemini?
Google Gemini is the company's generative AI solution. With Gemini, users can enhance their workflow with advanced AI capabilities. The Gemini add-on is now included in Google Workspace subscriptions at no extra cost.
While the removal of the additional cost for the Gemini add-on is good news for users, Google has adjusted the pricing for all Workspace tiers. For instance, customers previously paying $32 for the Workspace Business Standard plan with the Gemini Business add-on will now pay $14 per month, which is a $2 increase.
The new pricing tiers will be effective immediately for new Google Workspace subscribers. Existing customers will experience the updated pricing from March 17, 2025, or at the renewal date of their Annual or Fixed-term plan, whichever comes later.
New Features for Google Workspace Customers
Google will roll out the new Gemini features for Business customers starting today, with Enterprise customers receiving them in January. These features offer AI assistance in Google Workspace tools to streamline tasks such as summarizing information, extracting key details from emails, and providing insights on meeting conversations.
Furthermore, users can utilize Gemini Advanced for complex tasks like data analysis and coding, as well as creating Gems – teams of AI experts to automate repetitive tasks. The update also includes access to
NoteBookLM Plus
While the price hike may impact users not interested in utilizing AI tools in their workflow, Google's move highlights the importance of AI in the Workspace environment.
