Google to remove Gemini access from Google app on iOS; prompts users to switch to standalone app
Google has started notifying iPhone and iPad users about the removal of Gemini support from the main Google app. Users are encouraged to transition to the standalone Gemini app for continued access to features.

Transition from Google app to Gemini app
Previously, iOS users could conveniently access Gemini through the Google app, with the option to switch between Google Search and Gemini. However, Google introduced new features like Gemini Live, which were exclusive to the full Gemini app launched in November. Consequently, the tech giant's focus shifted towards promoting the standalone Gemini app.

Recently, Google made the decision to officially remove Gemini from the Google app. Users are now receiving emails informing them that Gemini is no longer available within the Google app. Instead, they are advised to utilize the full Gemini app for the optimal Gemini experience.
According to a report by 9to5Google, the email notification instructs users to download the new Gemini app from the App Store to access all features, including those that were previously unavailable on the Google app.

Earlier this month, Google eliminated the switcher feature, although users could still access Gemini through the 'More' tab in the Google app (version v356.0) on iOS. A pop-up message now prompts users to download the full Gemini app from the App Store to ensure a seamless experience.
Google's efforts to enhance Gemini
This decision aligns with Google's strategy to streamline the Gemini experience by consolidating all features and updates within one dedicated app. By phasing out Gemini from the Google app, Google aims to provide users with a more cohesive and efficient platform for utilizing the Gemini service.
For users who have been relying on Gemini within the Google app, the transition to the standalone Gemini app is essential to access the full range of capabilities and enhancements offered by the service.
