The Pixel Buds Pro 2 is easily Google’s greatest hardware product of 2024. They’re supremely comfortable, have great sound quality, have a very useful transparency mode, and have fantastic battery life. Is it love at first sight? It was! That was until my Pixel Buds Pro 2 got some scratches. Nonetheless, these are a pair of truly wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone and everyone.
Fit and Comfort
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 arrived two years after the original Pixel Buds Pro were unleashed on the market. The fit has bowled me over. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are smaller in size, thanks to the twist-to-adjust stabilizer that helps with the fit. This design ensures they won’t fall out of your ears, even during physical activities, and provides a better seal to block out external sounds. The buds weigh just 4.7 grams, making them comfortable for long-term wear.
Google prides itself on the snug fit of the Pixel Buds Pro 2, and it truly delivers on that promise.
Sound Quality and Performance
The new Tensor A1 chip and 11mm drivers make the Pixel Buds Pro 2 sound much crisper and more detailed. The enhanced instrument separation, upgraded acoustic architecture, and high-frequency chamber result in a natural and immersive audio experience. The wide soundstage and improved bass make listening to music, podcasts, and more a delight.
Controls and Integration
Google retained the volume controls for the Pixel Buds Pro 2, offering a convenient way to adjust the volume without needing to reach for your phone. The controls for play/pause, skip, and AI assistant activation are user-friendly and easily customizable. The Gemini integration allows for voice commands but may be more efficiently used through the Gemini Live app on your smartphone.
Battery Life and Connectivity
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 offer impressive battery life, with up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge without ANC. With ANC enabled, the earbuds last a respectable 8 hours. The charging case extends the battery life to up to 30 hours with ANC on and 48 hours with ANC off. Charging is convenient via USB-C cable or wireless charger.
Final Thoughts
While the Gemini integration may have room for improvement, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 excel in fit, sound quality, and battery life. Priced at Rs 22,900, they offer a premium experience that rivals other top TWS earbuds in the market. For non-Apple or Samsung users, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a standout choice that combines comfort, performance, and convenience in one package.
