Google signs a deal with Associated Press to create a real-time AI news feature
Google has announced a new partnership with the Associated Press to integrate breaking news from the news agency into its Gemini AI chatbot. This collaboration marks Google's first agreement with a news publisher to showcase real-time news updates via its artificial intelligence technology.
Partnership Details
The financial terms of the deal between Google and AP have not been disclosed. However, this partnership further strengthens the existing cooperation between the two organizations in delivering up-to-the-minute news content through Google's search engine platform.
Kristin Heitmann, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at AP, emphasized that the alliance underscores the significance of independent journalism and the crucial role of accuracy when working with AI-driven generative tools.
Jaffer Zaidi, Google's vice president of global news partnerships, revealed that users of Google Workspace for Business and Enterprise subscriptions will soon gain access to the Gemini features without incurring any additional costs.
Previous Developments
In a related move last year, Google had unveiled plans to incorporate Gemini AI capabilities into Gmail. This integration aimed to enhance user experiences by offering AI-powered functionalities such as email organization, summarization of missed communications, management of Google Drive attachments, meeting summaries, and efficient email searches.
