Google's Gemini Could Soon Be Headed To iPhones And Displace Android Exclusivity
Gemini may soon be accessible as a stand-alone app on iPhones, ending its exclusivity on Android smartphones, as per a latest report. To use Gemini, iPhone users currently have to utilize the Google app, which requires them to do several steps to switch to the assistant on the home screen. The smooth integration found on Android smartphones, particularly with the Pixel phones, is unavailable for iPhone users. Gemini may soon make an appearance on iOS in a more approachable manner.
Discovering Gemini on Apple App Store
The Google Gemini app was spotted on the Apple App Store by a user in the Philippines, according to a report by 9to5Google. With this stand-alone app, iPhone users could have more direct access to Gemini, leading to a more interesting Gemini Live experience. However, Google has not made an official announcement regarding Gemini being available on the Apple Store yet.
Integration with iPhone's Live Activities
According to the app listing, Gemini takes advantage of the iPhone’s Live Activities feature to remain active in the background as users multitask, which increases convenience. For now, though, the iOS app seems to provide a basic experience similar to the Gemini website instead of the polished layout that Android customers are used to. Attempts to reach the app listing from the United States and India were unsuccessful, and only one user has reported seeing it. These findings suggest that the listing may have been an accidental early listing or a restricted test.

Currently, Android smartphones with fully integrated Gemini assistants, such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Google Pixel 9 series, offer the finest Gemini experience. If Gemini does arrive on iOS, though, it might create new opportunities for iPhone customers who want Google’s cutting-edge AI features on their phones. According to a report by Bloomberg last week, Apple intends to incorporate Google Gemini, which is comparable to ChatGPT, into its iPhone operating system. Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi of Apple alluded to the possibility of integrating AI services beyond OpenAI’s ChatGPT during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024 which makes it tougher for Siri to compete.
