Google Gemini May Be Able To Access Samsung Apps - Lowyat.NET
Last month, reports surfaced claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will have access to Google Gemini Advanced for free. More recently, a new claim has emerged suggesting that Gemini will have the capability to retrieve data from apps developed by the South Korean tech giant, which are often pre-installed on Samsung phones.
This information comes from leakster @chunvn8888 on X, who shared several screenshots indicating this integration. Specific Samsung apps mentioned include Calendar, Notes, and Reminder. These apps are said to serve as extensions for Google Gemini, with individual extension permissions that can be toggled on or off.
Potential Benefits for Users
This development significantly expands the possibilities for users of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 devices, and potentially for older models as updates are rolled out. It is particularly noteworthy for the Notes app, which currently utilizes Galaxy AI for functions such as summaries, translations, style and grammar checks, and text generation.
For translations, this integration offers the advantage of selecting the translation engine that has consistently provided more accurate translations based on user experience.
Speculations and Expectations
As with any leaks, these details should be considered speculative until the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event takes place. Similar to the focus on Galaxy AI features in the previous year, this year's event may shine a spotlight on AI capabilities even more prominently than the devices themselves.
