You no longer need a Pixel or Galaxy phone to get Gemini in ...
Google first released the Gemini chatbot for its Messages app earlier this year, but the requirement for a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy device has now been relaxed. The company recently announced the availability of Gemini in Google Messages for India, opening up access to a wider range of Android devices.
Requirement Update
Google quietly updated its support page to reveal that you only need an Android device with 6GB of RAM or higher to use Gemini in Google Messages. Previously, the support page specified the need for a Pixel 6 phone or later, a Pixel Fold, a Samsung Galaxy S22 series phone or later, a Galaxy Z Flip or newer, or a Galaxy Z Fold and newer.
These changes mean that users in India, where brands like Xiaomi, vivo, OPPO, and realme are popular, can now access Gemini without the need for specific Pixel or Galaxy devices. This update also benefits users in other markets where different brands dominate the smartphone landscape.
Google has made the Gemini app and Gemini Advanced available in India. Both versions are offered in English and nine Indian languages, catering to a diverse user base in the region.
Expanded Availability
With the expanded availability of Gemini across a broader range of devices, more users can now experience the benefits of this chatbot within Google Messages.
